NEXIO AMP Media Platform with Integrated Drives

The NEXIO AMP™ NX3601HDI media platform with integrated storage is much more than a robust HD/SD transmission server ¡ª it represents an entirely new approach to managing digital content. From ingest to transmission, the NX3601HDI delivers exceptional reliability, flexible media I/O and complete format transparency.

The NX3601HDI supports up to six channels of SD I/O or three channels of HD or mixed HD/SD I/O. Six internal, hot-swappable 750 GB SATA-2 storage drives, agile software-based codecs and cutting-edge IT connectivity come standard. The system is fully software configurable and provides real-time I/O and network interfaces. External device support is provided with USB 2.0 and FireWire® ports for import and export, and a 5.25¡± drive bay accepts supported third-party devices, such as a Panasonic® P2 deck. Gigabit Ethernet and FTP connectivity support network devices such as shared folders and near-line storage systems.

As a member of the NEXIO™ server family, the NX3601HDI runs Harris¡¯ patented and Emmy® Award-winning RAIDsoft™ software RAID management system, which allows all channels and network ports to simultaneously access content without restriction. The intelligent RAIDsoft™ system keeps cached copies of the File Allocation Tables (FAT) in RAM and on disk, adding exceptional system resiliency.

The NEXIO AMP™ NX3601HDX media platform is much more than a robust HD/SD transmission server ¡ª it represents an entirely new approach to managing digital content. From ingest to transmission, the NX3601HDX delivers exceptional reliability, flexible media I/O and complete format transparency.

Standard on all NX3601HDX mainframes is cutting-edge IT connectivity and direct access to the true shared storage NEXIO™ storage area network (SAN), a modular and scalable system that makes it easy to add channels and storage as a broadcaster¡¯s requirements change. Multiple NX3601HDX mainframes can be attached to the SAN, enabling systems with more than 100 channels and integration with other NEXIO™ SAN components, including editors and gateways. Access to shared storage is via redundant, dual-port 4 Gbps Fibre Channel.

Each NX3601HDX supports up to six channels of SD or three channels of HD or mixed SD/HD real-time I/O. The system is fully software configurable, using agile software-based codecs to encode and decode HD and SD content. Import and export of data to external devices is facilitated through front and rear USB 2.0 and FireWire® ports, and a 5.25¡± drive bay accepts supported third-party devices, such as a Panasonic® P2 deck. Gigabit Ethernet and FTP connectivity support network devices such as shared folders and near-line storage systems.

The NX3601HDX is optimized for use in the true shared storage NEXIO™ SAN. As a member of the NEXIO™ server family, the NX3601HDX runs Harris¡¯ patented and Emmy® Award-winning RAIDsoft™ software RAID management system, which allows all channels and network ports to simultaneously access content without restriction. RAIDsoft™ provides two methods for safeguarding stored media in each volume: RAID 3, for protection against single drive failures; and the proprietary ECC (Error Correction Code) Parity, which guards against two simultaneous drive failures. The intelligent RAIDsoft™ system keeps cached copies of the File Allocation Tables (FAT) in RAM and on disk, adding exceptional system resiliency.
